- MLB Playoffs: Catch some of the baseball playoffs in HD on TBS. The parity in baseball this year is extraordinary leading to some electric games and great finishes. If you don’t have HDTV yet, make it a priority. Once you’ve seen something in HD going back to regular channels is like watching through saran wrap.
- Round of Golf: Play a round at your favorite course with some friends. Most golf courses have nice Fall special rates and it is usually much easier to get a tee time at the better Links. Try to play somewhere where the leaves are changing for an especially enlightening experience.
- Take a Short Trip: The Fall is traditionally the slowest travel time for the airlines/hospitality industry. Take advantage of some terrific air/hotel package deals to Las Vegas, New York City, or San Diego.
- Guthrie Theater: The new Guthrie is absolutely beautiful. Plan an evening with a bite to eat downtown Minneapolis and a show at the theater. This is a gem of the Twin Cities.
- Bryant-Lake Bowl:It doesn’t matter if you don’t enjoy bowling. Go for one of the best burgers in the metroplex and have a pint of Guinness. This uber cool spot has attained cult-like status.
- College Football Thursday: ESPN has a weekly game usually featuring a great matchup. Order a pizza and saddle up in the recliner. It just is so much more enjoyable to watch the college game instead of the NFL on Sundays.
- Wild Game:Head downtown St. Paul to “The X” for the best game there is in person. The action is fast and furious. The building has been ranked the top arena in professional sports and the raucous crowds help it live up to the billing. Stop at Patrick McGovern’s for a delicious turkey sandwich or Cossetta’s for their famous pizza before the game.
- Cabelas:If you enjoy the outdoors in Minnesota there can’t be a more exhilarating spot to browse than here. Hunting season is fast approaching and they’ve got all the gadgets & gizmos. At the very least stop off on Hwy 94 on the way to Collegeville!
- The Office:Steve Carell has hit it big in America. This guy is probably the #1 comedian of this era with this highly successful TV show on NBC (Thursday nights) and numerous box office hits at the movie theater. If you’ve never tuned in be sure to do it. The humor is second to none.
- Uptown: This is a Minneapolis favorite. The proximity to the Lakes allow for a stroll or bike ride in the crisp Fall air. Uptown is such a unique eclectic mix of funky coffee shops, uber chic restaurants, shopping, and great people watching. This is about as diverse as it gets in Minnesota and worth an occasional visit.
