It has been an amazing couple of weeks for all who are connected to Johnnie Football. Still we are not done. Russ Gliadon wanted the moustache slide show but pictures were not taken. Hopefully we can get that going for next week. Everyone is excited to be going into this game and practice yesterday had a nice tempo to it, even though we were inside.
Every Thursday, the defensive line does “low-charges.” I usually have night class and can’t participate (not that I would win the competition anyway). This week, being the light outside is in short supply we did paper-rock-scissors instead. I decided to stay and it was worth my time. I won the competition defeating Joe Luke for the title. A formal protest was filed by Nick Gunderson as he felt that Noel Meyer and he should have been able to participate.Â
For me, a win in Northfield would be that much more sweet. In high school, our team was big rivals with Northfield, now we have the “pleasure” of going there twice a season to play the colleges that are there. Not to mention, I think my parents are skipping the Hamline game to come to make the ten minute drive to Northfield to see the Johnnies.Â
Tonight the D-line is heading to Space Aliens, along with Tim Juba, for all you can eat ribs. I am pretty sure we have come close to putting the place out of business before, but the food was so good who could resist? If I was a betting man, I would say that Juba could probably eat the most ribs in one sitting, but my darkhorse is Pete Froehling, who seems to have a bottomless pit.Â
Thats about all I have for now as I have to be getting to class for the day. I know my teammates expected a little bit more, but the week is still young and more can be said. In the meantime we will keep preparing for Carleton. We know that we will be well-supported by fans, but just in case you need to be begged, please support us this Saturday at Carleton. It will be a great game and the scenario couldn’t be any more clear for the first time in weeks. We hope to see you all there.
