Greetings Johnnie fans! There’s been a lot of Hamm’s over the dam since anybody has posted here, so I thought we should blow the dust off, break the ice, so to speak. (Why do sports make one speak/write in cliches?) This first post of the 2008 season might not have the polish and grandeur you’ve come to expect, but hey, it’s still pre-season.
Practice starts tomorrow and the 2008 season is just weeks away as I write, and there is much to look forward to. You know, fresh start, hope springs eternal, etc… The Johnnies will have their first open competition for the starting quarterback position in four years, with Hansel, Boyle and Crees in the mix. Legendary coach John Gagliardi will face his now routine task of replacing all of the irreplaceable players who have graduated. The Johnnie tailgate will continue its unparalleled tradition of great food and fellowship, both at home and on the road. (Isn’t it awesome when there are more St. John’s football fans on the road than home team fans?)
So I know you’re all craving to hear what I’ve been up to since my last missive: hunting, fishing, Cabo, fishing, a few Hamm’s, Twins games, work…not necessarily in that order. Come to the home opener against East Texas Baptist on September 6th and I’ll fill you in on the details. Remember, it’s an 11:00 a.m. start so we’ll be having breakfast a little earlier. Looking forward to seeing everybody at the games.
