Ok, maybe the phrase “Let The Games Begin” is a bit overused however in an Olympic year and with Johnnie Football Camp in full swing it’s as good as anything.
Just as the Johnnies began practice at 9:30am on Friday morning another sign of the upcoming season is the crew from JohnnieFootball.com gathering at Champps in Eden Prairie. On Monday, August 4th contributors from last year’s group and a few newcomers met to strategize about who the Johnnie quarterback will be and would John get as fired up against St. Thomas this year as he did against Redlands last November!
For the 2008 season you’ll be treated to an improved website and an expanded team of writers and photographers. Former Johnnie offensive lineman and professional sportswriter John Tuvey joins our staff, Vic Murphy and Pat Maurer will help Tim Ward with game day photography while Johnnie alumni linemen Tom Ritters and Ryan Bielat break down the upcoming foe. Peter Hacker will contribute his thoughts as a completely consumed Johnnie Alumnus and current SJU player Andy Pierskalla will begin reporting from camp starting this evening.
As our overworked webmaster Joel Schou completes the upgrades to the JohhnieFootball.com website you can also look forward to active blogging every day leading up to Saturday morning’s kickoff. We’ll be featuring articles about former players, current players and hopefully giving you a perspective you won’t find anywhere else (It’s just how we roll…)!
We’re entering our second year of Johnnie Football coverage and eagerly looking forward to renewing fall football friendships, tailgating with the Stiftungsfest crew, enjoying the September weather and finding out what kind of Johnnie Football team will show up on September 6th vs. East Texas Baptist. One thing we know for sure, we will have a good time.
Until then, Johnnie Up Everybody!
