Even the “Master” himself was a bit amazed at the proficiency his senior quarterback Alex “AK-11” Kofoed demonstrated in surgically slicing and dicing The Concordia College defense for 303 air yards in only 3 quarters of play. “AK-11” simply dazzled a blazing day crowd at Clemens Stadium, recorded at 9,951, by first lofting and lobbing then rifling and firing the football in whichever angle was necessary to sever the Cobber defensive unit which was more construct than concrete. The quiet leader of the now percolating Johnnie offense appears ready to lead his men through the heart of the MIAC schedule and deep into the Division III playoff picture.
Following a day in which the inconspicuous quarterback played with considerable ease and poise in dominating the highly respected Cobb, is Alex Kofoed silently planning a Johnnie ascent to the national championship game and victory as a final salvo? Alex Kofoed has demonstrated considerable talent during his four year run as the starting quarterback at St. John’s and will leave his name atop the record books for multiple categories including passing yards, completions and touchdowns.
In a gesture to Johnnie O-line coach Jim Mader, the consummate gentleman Kofoed tipped his cap to Mader by calling a 3rd quarter trap play resulting in a Mike Patnode touchdown. Following the successful completion of the 2 yard run the “gentleman” Kofoed trotted off the field and offered up to Mader, “I called that one for you!”

With the Johnnie passing attack shifting into glide, MN Coaches Hall of Famer Jim Mader will continue to build his offensive line into the kind of power unit required to control the clock and time of possession. The type of unit needed to go head to head with the reigning Division III National Champion Mount Union Purple Raiders and All-American running back Nate Kmic. To further bolster the Raider attack this past Saturday Kmic’s backfield mate Terrance Morring carried twice for 106 yards.
Coach Mader also tipped his cap to offensive coordinator Jim Gagliardi who Mader indicated, “doesn’t get the credit he deserves in constructing successful game planning”.
Will Alex Kofoed be content in just re-writing the record book or is his silent pursuit and quiet way focused on the much bigger goal of a final run through the Division III playoffs and a showdown with the Purple Raider? “AK-11” tipped his cap this weekend with his own answer to this question. In this case let’s just call Alex “The Answer!”
