Happy Homecoming to all of you, whether you can make it back or not. Although the weather is supposed to be less than spectacular, I suspect that we’ll have a good 10,000 up on campus, maybe more. Part of that is due to the very big MIAC contest between St. John’s and the team that has beaten us three years running — Bethel University.

Up until a couple of days ago, the sports plan for this weekend were all set. Some 1st class tailgating on Saturday, followed by a Johnnie thumping of the Royals of Bethel. Then a dash down I-94 to the metrodome for the Twins penultimate game against the Royals of Kansas City. A night on the town in Minneapolis then the dome closer on Sunday would complete the Royal flush.
Let’s cut to the chase. Bethel has beaten the Johnnies 3 years in a row. The last 2 years in Arden Hills and in 2006 their first win ever in Collegeville. The mystique is gone. The Royals have developed a gameplan that is effective, and quite simply, works against SJU. This is what great rivalries [...]
It’s been a little bit of time since I was able to post last but last week was terrible for me. I had just so much to do and it all seemed to come down at once. I know we’ve all been there. Still this is a new week and, of course, it doesn’t need to be said that it’s Homecoming and Bethel week.
