Today’s Monday morning report is going to be a bit abbreviated and slightly late following a weekend away from Collegeville closing up the family cabin. MONKEY STOMP!!!
Monkey Stomp. Man it feels good to say that. For those of you unfamiliar with the term, a monkey stomp is a victory by a margin of 21 points or more. Last year, 6 of the 12 games played by SJU were stomps. This year, well, the term hasn’t been used often in the Johnnie football lexicon.
Johnnie Gameday Predictions: Hamline
So last week didn’t turn out so well for the Johnnies or the predictors. We all know that Hamline is no Bethel, and Collegeville is no Arden Hills. Things should go much better this week; let’s see if the staff of JohnnieFootball.com feels that way.
The Johnnie family, a wise choice!
As the age-old adage states; “you pick your friends, not your family.” This statement implies that as human beings we really have zero choice when it comes to the family that we are born into. There is simply nothing we can do about what this birthright means to us as we make our way through life. There can be good and there can be challenges in any family. But for those of us who are (proudly) members of a family that we did choose to join, we are most secure in our knowledge that there is nothing better than the Johnnie family!
Sleeping ’til Noon
Grandpa’s been gone for 20 years now, but as I make my way in life, one of his sayings will frequently pop into my mind. As I’ve watched the St. John’s football team this season, I can’t help but be reminded of one of those sayings:
“Once you have a reputation for being and early riser,” my Grandpa used to tell me, “You can sleep ’til noon everyday.”
