2007 hamline game

This week presents some interesting challenges.  The Johnnies travel to Hamline to take on the Pipers who are really struggling again this year.  As a fan, a win this week for the J’s appears to be a foregone conclusion.  I know the Johnnie coaching staff won’t let this enter into the psyche’s of the players, but it [...]

2007 gustavus game

The Johnnies survived another Saturday duel for the 2nd weekend in a row.  Clearly this is a talented Ole team who “brought the house” to Collegeville.  I am not sure what to make of this 2007 Johnnie squad.  They appear capable of winning the close games and have proven the ability to come from behind.  I’d like [...]

Top Ten Things To Do This Fall Waiting for Saturday

MLB Playoffs:  Catch some of the baseball playoffs in HD on TBS.  The parity in baseball this year is extraordinary leading to some electric games and great finishes.  If you don’t have HDTV yet, make it a priority.  Once you’ve seen something in HD going back to regular channels is like watching through saran wrap.
Round [...]

Melrose: Any place that sends WR Blake “Bottled Lightning” Elliott,  QB Tom Linnemann, WR Ben Sieben, DB Shawn Schoenberg, OL Jason Primus,  and DL Brian Zirbes belongs at the top of this list.  I don’t think anyone can say one school has sent more impact players to the Johnnies in recent years.
Sartell: The local connection is [...]

The title of honorary Johnnie and Sports Illustrated Senior College Football Writer Austin Murphy’s new book is “Saturday Rules: A Season With Trojans and Domers”.  I just picked it up from Barnes and Noble a couple days ago and to no surprise of my own it is a terrific read.  I’m just over halfway [...]

Where to grab a bevvie.

Patrick’s (St. Peter):  This place has the trifecta.  Great food, great beverages, and plenty of room.  This is a phenomenal joint to watch more games on a Saturday afternoon/evening or just unwind after the big game.
Mick’s Office (Moorhead):  Mick’s is steeped in tradition over generations of Cobbers.  Stop in for a tasty [...]

2007 concordia game

Good evening Johnnie fans. After a thoroughly dominating win last week against Augsburg, the Cobbers from Concordia-Moorhead come to Collegeville. They always seem to play the Johnnies tough dating back to the Jim Christopherson era. While the Cobbers only have one win against the Johnnies since 2000, their schemes clearly give the J’s problems. Or [...]
