Just how far does the scent of Wingman’s ever so delectable wings carry? Can you actually hear the opening of the container that carries Natural Aimee’s oh so popular homemade Deviled Eggs from that far away? What? Is that the sound of an ice cold beverage being poured into one of our quite famous red [...]

Johnnie Football Math….No. 9 is No. 1!
As the 2009 campaign kicks-off this weekend in River Falls one very positive aspect of the this year’s team will be that the Johnnie Nation not have to endure the frustration of a revolving door at the QB position. The 2009 team will be lead by our [...]

Now that we are well within spitting distance of kick-off at UWRF on Saturday the 5th (thank goodness because I am not sure about all of you out there in the Nation but the wait for Johnnie Football kick-off each year is absolutely excruciating for this Johnnie) it is time for all of us in [...]

At 4 a.m. this Saturday I will be leaving my house in Woodbury to make the trek to Whitewater, Wisconsin to cheer on our miraculous 2008 Johnnie Squad as they take on the U.W.W. Warhawks. Let’s be honest, with three truly unbelievable victories this year how can anyone doubt that Rich Hall, SJU ’63 is indeed in Heaven bending God’s ear each Saturday afternoon screaming for victory! Dallas Cowboy fans like to say that they’re America’s Team. That’s fine with me as all in the Johnnie Nation are aware that St. John’s is God’s team!

A couple of years ago this is how my Daughter Erin became a big fan of # 80, the Johnnie starting tight-end Brett Saladin. As her fall Saturday schedule prevents her from making it to Collegeville, her Johnnie Game day experiences are via the radio feed. And it always seemed that when a big [...]

So this Saturday I am going to make the trip to Northfield (my first) with one of my very best friends who just happens to be an Ole. When you see Johnnie Tats roll into the pre-game tailgate road tripping S-festivities this Saturday with an Ole buddy who will be sporting Ole gear you will understand that I have not gone around the bend or changed allegiances.

What does the Tommie/Johnnie rivalry mean to you? How important is the outcome of this game in your life? How do you feel about all that is U.S.T.? Does your 11 year old think the letters UST stand for something entirely different than the University of St. Thomas? Is the color Purple forbidden in your [...]

As the age-old adage states; “you pick your friends, not your family.” This statement implies that as human beings we really have zero choice when it comes to the family that we are born into. There is simply nothing we can do about what this birthright means to us as we make our way through life. There can be good and there can be challenges in any family. But for those of us who are (proudly) members of a family that we did choose to join, we are most secure in our knowledge that there is nothing better than the Johnnie family!

This week marks the first MIAC road trip for John and the 2008 Johnnie Football Team. This week also marks an occasion that is relatively rare in the MIAC; an opponent has the opportunity to defeat the Johnnies for the third consecutive year — a feat that has not taken place since the Gusties defeated the Johnnies from 1979-1981! Following a 28-13 home defeat in 2006, and last years 17-14 defeat in Arden Hills, it’s this author’s opinion that the team will be, as starting Tight End Brett Saladin says, “unbelievably motivated”.

This Saturday is the 2008 edition of Homecoming for SJU and its unrivaled Nation! For many Johnnies this weekend’s events mark a reunion year and therefore an even greater reason to make the trip to our beloved Collegeville. It’s time to celebrate being a Johnnie and remember all of those great times you had while at SJU and the even greater people one met while at SJU.
