St. John’s was perfect in 15 first round playoff games beginning in 1987 however the University of Wisconsin - Whitewater ground game ended that streak.
Saturday could not have started more perfectly for the Johnnies: Limiting the UWW Warhawks to 17 yards on their first drive, receiving the ensuing punt with the wind at their [...]

Whitewater Playoff Game Photos
Thanks again to Jeff Sowden for the game photos. Most of the photos for this 2008 season have come from Jeff. We need to give Jeff a funny name and make him an “official” JohnnieFootball.com contributor.
Congratualations to the Johnnies on another successful season. Thanks especially to the seniors for four great years. [...]
Warhawks End Johnnies Season 37-7
The trip to southeastern Wisconsin to take on the Warhawks from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater has become a familiar one to the Johnnie Football team as well as the Johnnie Nation. For three out of the past four seasons, the Warhawks have ended the Johnnies’ season. We all know that football is a zero sum [...]
Johnnie Gameday Predictions: UW-Whitewater
Well, here we go! After five straight win-or-else games in MIAC play, the Johnnies have reached the ultimate win-or-else portion of the season: the NCAA D-III Playoffs. Up first: only the defending national champion UW-Whitewater Warhawks. Piece o’ cake, right? Yeah…no.
The View from Whitewater
The Johnnies are traveling to Tom Pattison’s corner of Wisconsin for the third time in four years. He called the first two visits on the radio and will be doing so again on Saturday. How have the Warhawks looked in defending their 2007 title? What does he see happening in this game?
WINGING IT TO WHITEWATER
At 4 a.m. this Saturday I will be leaving my house in Woodbury to make the trek to Whitewater, Wisconsin to cheer on our miraculous 2008 Johnnie Squad as they take on the U.W.W. Warhawks. Let’s be honest, with three truly unbelievable victories this year how can anyone doubt that Rich Hall, SJU ’63 is indeed in Heaven bending God’s ear each Saturday afternoon screaming for victory! Dallas Cowboy fans like to say that they’re America’s Team. That’s fine with me as all in the Johnnie Nation are aware that St. John’s is God’s team!
Cheese please!
In this, the most unlikeliest of seasons, it is probably fitting that St. John’s would draw as its 1st round playoff opponent the defending national champions from University of Wisconsin-Whitewater. But the way things have gone this year, an upset victory against the team from the land of cheese shouldn’t surprise anyone.
Inside the Numbers: Carleton Recap
For those among the estimated 6,000 in attendance at Laird Stadium in Northfield on Saturday for the coronation of an MIAC champion, numbers can do little quantify what you saw. Not only did the Carleton Knights, have a shot at the perennially powerful St. John’s Johnnies, at home, for the championship, but they had them on the ropes in the last minute. In the end, Kurt Ramler, a spread offense, trick plays, and a hearty helping of pluck weren’t enough to topple some well timed Johnnie Magic. Here’s a look at some numbers from Saturday’s 14-10, come-from-behind win and the regular season as a whole.
Stories From The Road
Well, we are just where we want to be. We have worked all season to get to this point. Saturday is going to be alot of fun and we hope that you can join us in Whitewater for the event. Moustaches are growing and by now even those, like myself, who cannot grow facial hair are starting to show some sort of “dirt” on our upper lips. I thought I would take some time this week and share a story with you all.
Return to Whitewater
The Johnnies and the Warhawks face off yet again in the 2008 NCAA Tournament. What can we expect to see from the Warhawks?
