The Johnnies survived another Saturday duel for the 2nd weekend in a row. Clearly this is a talented Ole team who “brought the house” to Collegeville. I am not sure what to make of this 2007 Johnnie squad. They appear capable of winning the close games and have proven the ability to come from behind. I’d like [...]

St. Olaf Stiftungsfestivities and Game Photos
It was a hot one in Collegeville on Saturday. I don’t think I was the only fan sweating out (literally as well as figuratively) the outcome of this one.
The Stiftungsfestivities turn out was the largest I have witnessed. It was great to meet a number of new Johnnie football fans as well as the Ole fans who participated in the pregame festivities.

Ben Vanderderheyden makes a critical 15 yard reception on 3rd and 11, keeping alive the drive leading to Brian Weber’s 4th quarter TD which closed the St. Olaf lead to 26–24
Inside the Numbers: St. Olaf Recap
On a magnificent fall afternoon in Collegeville, the Johnnies used a little 4th quarter magic—and two ridiculous catches by Brian Weber—to hand the St. Olaf Oles their first loss on the season, 30-29. Here’s a look inside the numbers:
John Gagliardi: Most Wins of Any College Football Coach Ever.
John Gagliardi has done something no other human being has ever done. He has coached college football teams to 449 wins in 59 collegiate seasons.
John has only coached at two places in his 59-year college football-coaching career. John’s first assignment was at Carroll College in Helena, Montana during the 1949 to 1952 seasons, winning three [...]

Zapruder Visits Collegeville
In 1963, Abraham Zapruder shot what is possibly the most famous film in US History. We at JohnnieFootball.com have reason to believe that some distant relative of Mr. Zapruder (died 1970) was in the stands on Saturday to witness the Big Red win against the St. Olaf Oles. Four excellent photographs of two crucial fourth-quarter [...]
Johnnies Nip Oles in Homecoming Thriller 30-29
On an unusually warm and windy October day the St. John’s Johnnies emerged victorious with a come from behind Homecoming game win to the delight of the reported 12,339 fans at Clemens Stadium.
The victory gives the Johnnies the inside track for the MIAC title along with Bethel University who is also undefeated after yesterday’s victory against [...]
Johnnie Gameday Predictions: St. Olaf
A week after playing down to the level on an inferior Carleton team, the Johnnies shouldn’t have any trouble getting up for this week’s matchup with the undefeated St. Olaf Oles. At stake when the #4-ranked Johnnies host the #18-ranked Oles is the inside track at the MIAC championship—and more importantly, the automatic playoff [...]
The View from St. Olaf
When Brian Senske arrived at St. Olaf as a first-year quarterback in the fall of 2000, the Oles were coming off of another mediocre season, finishing 3-7. Three months later, St. Olaf had a successful 7-3 record under its belt, Senske has Freshman All-American honors to his credit, and–most importantly–the Oles’ football program had [...]
Top Ten Things To Do This Fall Waiting for Saturday
MLB Playoffs: Catch some of the baseball playoffs in HD on TBS. The parity in baseball this year is extraordinary leading to some electric games and great finishes. If you don’t have HDTV yet, make it a priority. Once you’ve seen something in HD going back to regular channels is like watching through saran wrap.
Round [...]

Is Lena Coming, Too?
Pick your cliche, Saturday’s game is setting up to be an epic battle, a clash of the titans, a battle of the unbeatens. No matter how you say it, this game has the makings of a modern version of the Battle of Stiklestad.
