My first memories of St. John’s University are from a warm fall afternoon at Clemens Stadium in the early ‘90s. Sure, there was a football game played that afternoon—an easy Johnnies win, no doubt—but the gridiron details are fleeting. What I still remember is sliding down the hill overlooking the field, the impromptu football games that formed on the sidelines, and the way the sea of Johnnies pouring out of the field house never seemed to end.

A lot of things have changed since then. After spending four years in Collegeville, I’ve started paying a little more attention to the happenings on the field. Not only do I know who the Johnnies are playing on a given Saturday, but I try to find out a little about the unfortunate opponent. I also have a new all-time favorite sports moment—watching Mike Zauhar streak 100 yards down the Salem sidelines with Mount Union’s 55-game winning streak in his hands. But even after all that change, the real reasons why I follow St. John’s Football—the place and the people—remain the same.

I graduated from St. John’s in 2003 with a degree in Political Science. I currently work as a Home Mortgage Consultant for Wells Fargo Home Mortgage and live in Mound, MN.
