I remember the first time I entered Clemens Stadium in 2005, attending the St. Olaf game. It was a recruiting invitation for my son, Greg, who was a high school junior. The Johnnies won 63-9, a game that was supposed to be a close one! The atmosphere and Johnny Magic was thick that day and we were instant Johnnie Football Fans.
Greg is our youngest son, enrolling at St. John’s in 2006. He has had the opportunity to contribute on the offensive line, and his mom and I are having the time of our lives watching the Johnnies. Greg is a senior this year and we have high hopes for a successful season to close out his athletic career.
We were instant Johnnie Football Fans.
Our middle son, Phil, played basketball at Gustavus — graduating in 2007. Nate, our oldest, was not a college athlete, but an avid Sioux fan attending many football and hockey games at UND and graduating with a math degree in 2005.
All through the high school careers of our boys at Park Center, I have been involved in sports photography and video documentaries for athletics, music, and the drama departments. Photography and video was my way of contributing to the activities of our school. My wife, Barb, was always involved in the booster clubs and fundraising efforts.
This is our last year chasing the organized activities of our boys. Division III sports has been a wonderful experience and has presented a perfect opportunity for me to continue my photography efforts. It has been a terrific run, and I thank Johnniefootball.com for allowing me to continue to contribute.
